Bailey started swim lessons this week and has really done well. Her babysitter, Nate, has been taking her down, and had told me that she was doing well and that she'd swum the length of the pool with only a noodle wrapped around her - he didn't tell me that she was also swimming independently under water. I took her to her swim lesson yesterday and the second she got in pool she started doing this:
I was STUNNED!! She LOVES swimming - pushes the swim instructor away when they try to hold her to swim around the pool - and loves to dive down and get things off of the bottom of the pool. It was such an incredible thing to watch and I was so proud of the way that she claimed her place in the water. When I told her she was swimming like a fish, though, she replied, "no, I'm like the little mermaid!" I guess we know what has inspired her swimming!

Wow, that is pretty impressive progress for her first week of swimming lessons!
Woohoo! Bailey jumping off the diving board inspired my kids to finally jump into the pool and be ok with going under water... maybe I should show them this vid too! What a beautiful little mermaid!
Too funny Kristi! It really surprised me how comfortable she is with this swimming thing. I've heard that when they're ready it just happens - must be!
