4:30am?

I can't wait for this cough to pass!! Bailey, the girl who sleeps twelve hours at night, has left (apparently) and been replaced by a child who wakes up with a violent cough at 4:30am and then can't get back to sleep, so she's up, announcing from her crib, "I up" while I'm trying to work. And I try to snuggle her back to sleep, but no dice - she's up (the snuggles are nice, though, so I really can't complain about that). So - she and daddy are watching Jojo's Circus right now and we'll try to get her back to sleep around 7:30am. Otherwise - it's going to be a long day!! The good news is that she didn't cough UNTIL 4:30am - thank you pediatric Robitussin. Hopefully tomorrow will be even better and she won't cough until 9am!!

Double Ear Infection

I took Bailey to the doctor this morning - there's some rasp in her chest, but the greater concern is that she has a double ear infection. This is even more concerning because she has tubes in her ears. It was just heartbreaking - the doctor put the otoscope into her ear and she just screamed out in pain - same thing on the other ear. So - she's on antibiotics. If things aren't better in the next couple of days then we go back, otherwise - we go back next week to make sure that all is cleared up. If not - to the ENT we go to determine the next step for her ears - UGH!! Feel better quick princess!!

Cough, cough, hack!

Bailey is really taking it in the shorts with regard to her health. Last week the "Darf Dog", this weekend a very runny nose, last night - the hack from hell!! She has had a middle of the night cough for a week or so, off and on. Last night it went nuts. She woke up crying and said her tummy hurt but pointed at her chest, and pointed to her throat. Doctor's appointment is at noon - hopefully we'll get something to help clear all of this phlegm up! The poor kid is not having fun!!
I will note, I have some fellow moms of babies who are Bailey's age who have yet to sleep a full night through. For whatever reason, their child just never has made it through the night and will wake up frequently. Bailey has slept through the night since she was 6 months old. I don't know how those moms have survived for so long because two nights in one week is KILLING me!!

This is how I feel right now:

I'm a funny goose!

There are two phrases which have been used when Bailey is particularly silly. One is, "you funny duck" and the other is, "you're a silly goose". Well, Bailey was painting today - fingerpainting - and suddenly looked at her tummy and started painting it; all the while giggling. I called her a funny duck AND a silly goose. About 5 minutes later she announced, "I'm a funny goose!!" About 6 minutes later she was in the bath!!

Style

If there's one thing that Bailey's got nailed it's style! Ever since she began digging through her clothing to choose little ensembles, she has demonstrated an eye for the fantastical. Take a peek at some of her creations - pay special attention to how well she accesorizes as that is her true calling.

Happy Mother's Day!

I swore that I'd never dress myself to match my child...and then, at Nordstrom's yesterday, I saw a shirt in size 2t (Bailey's size) that matched a shirt that I have. And thought, if Nordstrom's carries it then it can't be too dorky to put us both in it. And so - here you have it - matching tops!

I Scream!!

So - what does the Mom who just lost 60 pounds want for Mother's Day? Well, crazy as it may seem I saw this little product in a catalog and thought it would be F-U-N!! How fun would it be to quickly whip up some soft serve ice cream and serve with sprinkles just before family outdoor movie night? Hooray - I got it!!
Just this week we got some deck furniture - a table with chairs for outdoor dining, a love seat, chairs, coffee table, and fire pit for just enjoying the evening. And - most importantly - a projector and DVD player to watch movies outside. Adam's calculations indicate that we will be able to project movies that will be 12 feet - no squinting there, folks! I can't wait to get it all set up (assembly totally required) and then start enjoying our newest entertainment center!! And now, I can serve ice cream with the movie - and, since it's outdoors, I can hose off the toddler after she eats her ice cream!

Hmmmm...

Me: Bailey, what happened to your legs?
Bailey: I colored my knees, Mom.

This is what happens when you both think that the other parent is watching her.

Things to remember to do this summer

This is a "list in progress" of things that I want to remember to do this summer!!

Derby Days
Farm Tots
Swim at the pool
Walk on the Kirkland Waterfront
Go to Concerts in the park
Go to Redmond Town Center on Wednesday nights
Torchlight Parade
Run the Redmond Town Center 5k

Cleanliness is next to...

If there's one surefire way to experience "no fail fun" it's to give Bailey a stool or a chair and let her stand in front of the sink and "wash hands" for an hour or two. She plays in the water, "spatulates", drinks a little water, splashes - in fact, I don't believe that any washing actually happens, but that's ok - she has a BLAST!!
